About Our Pastor
Mark Thrift is the pastor of Parkwood Baptist Church. His father was the pastor here before him for twenty-two years. He travels and preaches extensively, and is a highly sought after conference and revival preacher. Bro. Mark was saved at the age of sixteen, and felt the call to preach shortly thereafter. He attended Lynchburg Baptist College, Hyles-Anderson College, and graduated from Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1978. He obtained a Master's degree from Trinity Valley Baptist Seminary & College in 2001. Bro. Mark continues to preach the old-time religion from the old-time book, the Bible. He is a dynamic preacher who strongly believes that expository preaching is the kind of preaching that will feed and grow the church. He celebrated 25 years in leadership at the church in November of 2010. He has had a tremendous ministry of reaching the lost, world missions, mentoring younger preachers, itinerant preaching, and shepherding God's people. A Personal LetterDear Visitor and Friend, Greetings to you all in the lovely name of the One that never changes, the Lord Jesus Christ. I’m glad that in a changing world we have His unchanging truth to hold on to. What is even more of a blessing is that He holds onto us and we can never fall according to the scripture. Every day brings us more doom and gloom about the economy and the future of our system of capitalism. But as we look into the Bible we find that in His economy everything is on the rise. No wonder Jesus said to “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal”. What a blessing it is to know that not only are our souls secure, but so is the investment we make in eternal things. We trust that you have made this all-important decision in forgiveness of sin for the security of Christ.
