What We Believe
What We Believe, Teach and Preach at Parkwood.
The Inspiration of the Bible
We believe in the verbal, plenary complete inspiration of the Old and New Testaments, and that God’s word is true without any mixture of error. The Bible is divine revelation that carries the full weight of God’s authority and to which we are obliged to submit.
Within the Godhead, there is a unity of three distinct yet fully divine persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; these three are one true, eternal God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.
The Person of God
We believe God is supreme in His person, eternal in His being, absolute in His attributes, and glorious in His perfection.
The Person of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man, having two natures inseparably united in one divine person without confusion, mixture, separation, or division. Each nature retains its own attributes. We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, His deity, and sinless life. We believe in His vicarious death, His bodily resurrection and ascension, and His personal, premillennial return. We believe Christ is the only mediator between God and man.
The Person of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is of one substance with the Father and the Son. We believe that God the Holy Spirit is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation and is the Comforter and Guide Who lives in every believer.
The Fall of Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God and by choice fell into sin and death. Hence, every person is sinful and under condemnation to eternal judgement.
The Salvation of Sinners
Salvation is a gift received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace, and that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation.
The Freeness of Salvation
We believe that the blessing of salvation is made free by the Gospel, that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner but his own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of the Gospel.
The Security of the Believer
We believe that those who receive Jesus Christ as Saviour are eternally secure. Our security rests on the finished work of Jesus Christ. As result, we have assurance.
The Doctrine of the Church
We believe that the visible church is a congregation of baptized believers, practicing New Testament principles, believing its doctrines, observing its ordinances, and exercising its autonomy.
The Doctrine of Heaven and Hell
We believe in the eternal blessedness of the saved in Heaven and the eternal punishment of the lost in Hell.
Current Trends in Theology
We take a separatist stand against the current trends that lead to discrediting the Bible and undermining the fundamentals of the faith.
